I hate to say it, but after I read a few more books, this one, with so many others, will remain unmemorable.Don't misunderstand--it was written well enough and I like the author's voice and the story on a whole, but I guess, there are just too many repetitive stories like this one out there.The usual plot: Women scientists from Earth get lured onto a planet where there are only men inhabitants and very few women and --surprise!--the planet they happen to land on needs women or their race will die out. The men are super gorgeous, run around in loin cloths when they're hunting, but also have advanced weaponry, technology, spaceships...This planet is male dominated, the alphas rule and are the top class--and women are submissive and get spankings when they are out of line.This is when the story sort of loses in points...spankings? My mind had to adjust, and sadly I realized, as I turned the pages that the plot and characters just dropped down a notch into silly story category and that the story would be reduced to just another chest pounding "I am your master and you are my woman' kind of recount.Eva is a scientist, a lieutenant on her ship of fellow female scientists and warriors. These women are on a mission to save Earth. When she gets abducted on the alpha planet, she is immediately probed--and the probe scene feels humiliating as I am sure the author intended for it to be. When the probe proves that Eva is sexually compatible with the alpha examining her so intimately and who also was the one who captured her, she has sex with her "mate for the rest of eternity" alpha. From thereon, she is made to wear silk gowns with no underwear and is often spanked as she breaks rule after rule in her new home, sometimes for speaking out of turn and just voicing an opinion. Ugh.I hated the way Eva succumbs and starts portraying "bimbo-esque" characteristics when alpha man just gazes at her with his mesmerizing eyes. The insta-orgasm thing is getting old, as is calling your lover "Mate" every five minutes. When sex clouds all reason and an educated woman of the future allows her "mate" to be overbearing, I know not to take the story too seriously. Within two weeks Eva didn't want to leave the planet anymore and save Earth and even becomes a loud advocate for the alpha dominated planet. Huh?So, if you're looking for a sexy read where women actually enjoy getting punished by being spanked, this is not bad... I've read worse...at least the men doing the spanking are easy on the eyes.
From the beginning, this sex starved basttard, who happens to be the top leader of his whole world, is physically and psychologically abusive. Even though he knows she is his one and only true for ever love, he insists she obey his every command to the letter and spanks her when she tries to stand up for herself. The punishment quickly increases in frequency and force. His justification is that this is the way things are done on his world and she needs to learn to obey him and stop arguing. Punishment is followed by mind-blowing sex. This is not love! It is classic Stockholm Syndrome. Her self esteem falls as a result. i read book 3 in the series first. I liked it a lot not a lot of DD and a different plot-Eva and Ram. This is a sci-fi spanking fantasy series after all, so one cannot complain too much. In book one there is too much spanking and male dominance and not much else. The women captured are not given any choice - to save the species justifies this in the minds of the Primariens. Then biological changes occur after sort of forced mating so again there is no choice. Personally, analizing the series to death is a waste of typing. Let it suffice to say pay attention to the sum of negative reviews on this one - they made very good points.By the end of book three, we still don't know what has or will happen with Lana and General Trask. I hope there is another book to figure that out.I just can't see treating women this way expecting obedience and not treating them as equals with choice and the right to be heard and to dress as they wish. But then this is just a Star Trekesque fantasy, and the real world is not entirely a paragon of sexual equality.I must also admit the series gives food for thought on many contempory issues. If the Primarians move more towards what love really entails and less towards control, punishment, and obedience as it seems to be moving in book three, I recommend the series.
This story caught my interest and didn’t let it go until the end which is atypical for me. I was sad to see it end. I found the universe interesting, not necessarily one I would want to live in, but interesting enough to visit for the duration of the story. I found the characters likeable. The author gave me enough information that I could see the story from both perspectives of the H and the h, making it a two-sided story. This is my first book from this author and I will look into other books written by this author in the future.
If you're looking for a great story, a domineering, possessive, loving alpha male who believes in DD and a strong (most of the time) female lead and interesting secondary characters than this the the book for you. This is why I give it a 5 star. The alpha is consistent and the story is involved, creative and interesting. Always some things you would like to see slightly different, a little more fight by the women, a few less spankings but nothing that would change the overall rating.
For all who love sci/fi romance/erotic books this I recommend highly. Great story line, it wasn't at all like I thought with another series that about barbarians and earth females. It was so much more. Great detail, good visual dialogue. Yes, the spanking seemed a little much, but I don't believe it took away from the main story at all. The characters are great,strong for both male and female leads. I have not read a book by this author, this was my first,but definitely I will look into her other books. Please don't let me wait long for the next book in this series.
