I imagine most of those reading this book will be connected to the field: Professors, students, professionals, policymakers, or even rabid fans of urban design and mobility. As someone not in any of those camps, I came at this text with a somewhat different perspective - mostly in that I had far less information and understanding of the issues and potential solutions for ever growing and evolving urban landscapes. With that in mind, I found this book fascinating and easily digestible. While the tone can occasionally feel like that of a textbook, I generally found the insight and passion of its three authors to come through the page.While I began this book with little understanding of the field, I did approach it as an avid biker and a proponent of public transportation. I was interested to see where my wholly uninformed and relatively biased thoughts on urban design would play out through far more educated, intelligent, and rigorous consideration. I was excited to read what fit my world view, but all the more fascinated to learn what didn't. The scholars behind this book did an fine job of not only explaining how cities and mobility evolved to now and where they are and should be headed, but they deftly conveyed the case for why.
